TRIAL QUESTIONS

Should I do a trial?

Usually trials are best when you aren't sure of the style you are wanting so you can play around with one or two looks, and also to see if the style suits you and your wedding aesthetic. However, I would usually recommend a trial regardless so you can go into the wedding day with complete peace of mind knowing what you will look like on the day. You may also need hair extensions if your hair is quite fine to achieve a similar look so doing a trial may allow you time to order some if required. I don't always do trials as I can look at a photo and recreate pretty much anything but we may have to work around things on the day if your hair is quite different from the model's hair (i.e. no layers, not thick enough/too thick etc). You may wish to trim some face framing pieces, add highlights, get a spray tan or lashes etc prior to your wedding day after seeing your look during the trial to better enhance your dream look.

When should I book in my trial?

I usually recommend trials 6-12 weeks prior to your date, booked max 12 weeks before. These are held at my Burleigh Heads studio during the week in the afternoons after my shoots/weddings from 2-5pm pending availability (address provided upon booking confirmation). I do not offer after hour or weekend appointments.

Where is the trial held?

At my home studio in Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast.

How can I book my trial?

Email me 12 weeks prior to your wedding date and we can look at availability. I will send you a trial consultation form for you to fill out prior to your appointment for you to include your hair/makeup inspiration + answer a few questions to make it easy on the day of the trial.

How should I prep my hair/face for the trial?

Please ensure you fill out the Bridal Hair/Makeup consultation form I send to your email prior to your appointment - all the questions you have about your prep + other details will be on this form.

WEDDING DAY QUESTIONS

Will you put in my veil?

Veils are applied after your pre-wedding photos and after you have put your dress on. Veil applications are priced at $100/hr from pre discussed finished time chosen by photographer (time they would look you ready for photos) and covers me staying up to an hour to do touch ups and apply your veil. Please let me know prior to the day on your Pre-Wedding Confirmation Form if you’d like to book me for this.

What time are you starting?

This time is based on what time your photographer/videographer would like your hair/makeup completed by. We work back from this time, so let me know as soon as you can so I can let you know the arrival time. A general guideline is 1hr per person, per service, 15mins set up/pack down + 15-30mins for touch ups.

Can you provide a schedule/order/timeline for the day?

Exact timelines/schedules don’t often work well for hair/makeup artists as there are variables that may add or reduce the length of time for each client. It is important that everyone that is getting their hair/makeup done is showered and has followed the hair/makeup prep instructions prior to my arrival to not cause any delays. I usually prefer doing bridesmaids first, then the bride, then any mums/other guests not in the bridal party. The reason for this is the bridal party need to be ready earlier in case the photographers etc come earlier and the other guests have more time up their sleeve. A general guideline is 1hr per person, per service, 15mins set up/pack down + 15-30mins for touch ups. I would choose certain people over others to go first/last depending on skin/hair type e.g. oily skin, fine hair, frizzy hair etc. It is best everyone is ready in the morning and then once I meet everyone, I can advise an order. Any clip in extensions will add another 15mins to each person + another 15mins on top of that if they are needing to be cut/blended.

How do I prep my hair/face for the day?

Please ensure you fill out the Bridal Hair/Makeup consultation form I send to your email prior to your appointment - all the questions you have about your prep + other details will be on this form. Please ensure to communicate the prep instructions with everyone getting their hair and makeup done prior to the wedding day to avoid delays.

HAIR EXTENSIONS:

Where do I order hair extensions?

My preferred supplier is Medusa Hair Extensions. Use code BELLA10 for 10% off when ordering.

Which extension set should I get?

  • https://medusaaustralia.com.au/collections/clip-in-hair-extensions/products/volume-enhance-remy-human-hair-extensions-clip-in-set - Best set for upstyles/ponytails to give thickness – however comes in 18inch only, so if you want length it is best to get the full head of clip ins (link below instead). This volume enhance set is also good if you are just creating a boho/soft downstyle and want more volume/thickness/hold and not looking for dramatic volume/strong hold needed for hollywood waves.

  • https://medusaaustralia.com.au/collections/clip-in-hair-extensions/products/original-full-head-remy-human-hair-extensions-clip-in-set - Full set great for downstyles – I recommend 170g weight for the best result/ultimate thickness. 120g is fine if you have lots of hair already and just want hold for Hollywood waves. If you have fine hair or your hair doesn’t hold curls well and you are wanting Hollywood waves, order 170g for the best result. You should only order the 220g weight if you have very thick shoulder length or a very blunt haircut, as you will need more weight (thickness) to blend your hair and the extensions seamlessly.

  • General rule of thumb: 18 inch= breast length; 20 inch: below breast length; 22 inch: belly length

    What colour should I get?

Medusa can colour match you via their website with great results. I would recommend doing this then bringing them to your trial!
